Forgiven!
Everybody wants to go to heaven, but nobody wants to die!
That’s an interesting statement. A lot of people have told me they are going to heaven someday. Others have shared with me they hope to go to heaven.
Many believe that everyone (or most) will go to heaven.
John, one of Jesus’ followers and disciples wrote, “We proclaim to you what we ourselves have actually seen and heard so that you may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ. We are writing these things so that you may fully share our joy” (1 John 1:3-4).
He later explained that heaven is a gift from God that results in a changed life. In other words, when someone believes that Jesus’ death paid the price for our sin and asks God to forgive, that person has been born again.
When I was 18 years old I knelt on a dirt road and told God that I was a sinner. I asked God to forgive and change me. That night, I began an amazing journey of following Jesus.
It has not been a journey of perfection.
I still sin and break God’s heart. One thing is certain, I am a changed person who strives to honor God with my life, actions, and words (more on that at a later time). I know that I am going to heaven because of my faith in Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection.
