Road closed.
A few years ago my wife and I were traveling to a campground we had never visited before. Google maps instructed us to take a left, so I turned onto the road. Not long after turning, the pavement ended and we were riding on a narrowing rough dirt road. Then there was a sharp curve with a vehicle approaching.
I stopped and wondered if we were going to get through or not.
We made it!
There are times in life when the road is closed. And you may wonder what your next step should be.
There is a story in the Old Testament about the nation of Israel who were faced with crossing the Jordan River during the “high water season.” God gave these instructions:
“The priests will carry the Ark of the Lord, the Lord of all the earth. As soon as their feet touch the water, the flow of water will be cut off upstream, and the river will stand up like a wall” (Joshua 3:14).
Just as God promised, the waters of the Jordan stopped and they crossed on a dry riverbed.
If you are struggling with a closed door, seek God.
He may be leading you to pursue the closed door. Or, he may be directing you to another path. The journey of faith requires us to pursue God. It is a journey of relationship and trust.
Jesus said, “Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened” (Matthew 7:7-8).
You may take a “rough narrow” road and wonder if you’ll make it. Or, you may take the wrong road. Either way, I encourage you to remember that as long as you sincerely seek God, he will be with you every step of the way.
